Unfinished Business Television takes a DEEP DIVE into AN INNOCENT MAN, the gritty 1989 prison drama that put Tom Selleck about as far away from the Hawaiian shirts, Ferrari, and tropical paradise of Magnum, P.I. as humanly possible.
Fresh off his iconic run as Thomas Magnum, Selleck stars as Jimmie Rainwood, an ordinary family man whose life is destroyed when corrupt cops frame him for a crime he didn’t commit. Suddenly, one of the biggest television icons of the ’80s finds himself on the opposite side of the law, thrown into the slammer and forced to learn how to survive behind bars.
And who better to teach him than F. Murray Abraham?
We break down Selleck’s attempt to establish himself as a serious dramatic movie star following Magnum, P.I., his transformation from mild-mannered citizen to hardened inmate, and the movie’s surprisingly brutal depiction of prison life.
