While we would try to make an effort to adhere to the new requirements, their new policies are just way too much to meet given that these classes are over 2 years old. But here’s the good news: These classes will be migrated to a new online learning platform starting next month. Once we find a new home, we will make an announcement ASAP.
For the time being, you can still enjoy these classes as well as last year’s Indie Directing Film School until Skillshare decides to remove them all together. I thank all the students who engaged in the classes since 2019 and I hope we can continue educating aspiring filmmakers further very soon.
I want to personally take this moment to update our followers with the status of some of our upcoming projects, specifically AMERICAN GUNSLINGERS, in light of the current coronavirus crisis. After discussions with my team, we decided to postpone our original plan to begin production at the end of this spring and we may try to re-start the production either the end of the summer or early fall. There are so many moving parts to getting this film made and when you deal with horses, outdoor locations, child actors as well as some actors of a certain age, there’s some serious responsibility to maintaining a professional and safe production. We felt it was not worth the risk rushing into the production because of the uncertainty of this pandemic. This also might affect other projects we were planning for this coming season as well.
We will keep the Seed & Spark campaign for the film active until it ends on April 23rd. I had initially thought about canceling it until we received our first contribution yesterday. I’m honestly not sure how successful we will be at this point because of the public paranoia this virus has created. But it always helps if you guys can please share the link to at least get us trending.
So what do we do for the time being? Well now there’s time to write new scripts and The Silver Screen Action Figure Podcast will continue starting with a brand new episode to be released tomorrow. For those of you who plan to bunker down at home for the long haul:
– You can watch our award-winning short film THE SAXOPHONIST right now on Amazon Prime.
Have you ever wanted to make movies, but you’ve always been intimidated by how to use a camera or worry about breaking your bank account? Andre´ Joseph, award-winning independent filmmaker from New York City and president of AJ Epyx Productions, will show how YOU can make your own professional first movie with the resources you have available. This 10-part class titled NO-BUDGET FILMMAKING FOR BEGINNERS on Skillshare takes you through the process from the script to post-production and everything in between. This will be followed by students producing a video with a 3-Act structure and conflict at 3-5 minutes max. The class is geared towards beginner film students and people interested in making movies but never picked up a camera before.
