THE SAXOPHONIST Nominated at Action on Film Megafest

In addition to yesterday’s big news about the American Gunslingers animated teaser getting nominated for “Best Animation”, we also found out that our award winning short film, THE SAXOPHONIST, has been nominated in the same festival for “Best Musical”! See the full Action on Film Megafest award nominations list here.

The award ceremony takes place Saturday, August 3rd at 7pm. We will be screening the American Gunslingers animated trailer alongside THE SAXOPHONIST at the Palms Casino Resort next Wednesday, July 31 in the 8pm screening block. Tickets available now!

This will be a big summer for AJ Epyx Productions! Fingers crossed!

Sights and Thoughts from AOF & NY Jazz Film Festival

For AJ Epyx Productions, this was a very exciting week all around. First, we had the Action on Film/Hollywood Dreamz International Film Festival in Las Vegas where VENDETTA GAMES was screened. Between the Las Vegas setting and the festival atmosphere, we had such a blast in meeting new filmmakers (as well as ANTONIO FARGAS of “Starsky and Hutch”) to network with and enjoyed many of the films we saw. The award shows are so much fun and full of class all around. Del and Theresa Weston make all fellow filmmakers feel welcomed and embraced to be part of the AOF family. Though we didn’t win any of the awards we were up for, we gained so much insight and inspiration coming out of this festival. We’re truly thankful for the recognition.

Next up was last night’s New York Jazz Film Festival Awards event held at the legendary Paris Blues in Harlem. We were honored to accept the “Best Film” award for THE SAXOPHONIST with yours truly and star Beavin Lawrence in attendance. This was a great night for live music and meeting the fellow filmmakers and honorees who are doing their part in keeping jazz alive. We highly recommend that you support their films as well as ours by visiting the NYJFF Facebook page where you can watch all the films between now through Friday. Special thank you to Gregory Royal for this wonderful opportunity to have our film shown worldwide and all of our supporters including our fiscal sponsor, the New York Foundation for the Arts.

Sax Final Poster Comp
One year ago, we were just at the start of production on this special project. Today, I am very excited to announce to you all that the New York Jazz Film Festival has voted us for their BEST FILM OF 2018!!!! This would not have been possible without everyone’s full effort to make this project the best it can be.
The 2018 NYJFF Award Presentation is set to be held at Paris Blues on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 8pm.
Location: Paris Blues ( 2021 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd (7th Avenue) Harlem, New York (three blocks south of 125th Street)
What to Expect:  This is a very relaxed jazz/blues location with live music coming in at 9pm and which you are free to enjoy. The presentation, free to the public, will occur between 8pm and 9pm where filmmakers will be able to speak on their films and are able to perform during the hour. Non-alcoholic drinks and soul food will be served as part of the event and there is a cash bar for alcohol at the club. PHOTOGRAPHS will be done on the red carpet as well throughout the evening.
One note: Since all the movies are currently playing in full on NYJFF’s Facebook page, they will only be showing clips from the film as part of the presentation.
Once again, congratulations to everyone all around!
