This past Sunday, I turned 26 years old. Not necessarily monumental but I’m definitely over the hump now. It was great day that started with me and my dad going to see the Yankees demolish the White Sox 8-3. Loved the new stadium in spite of being baked in the sun at gate 2 section 300 something. Then we met up with my mom and my cousin Richard over at Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem for dinner. Nice quiet evening to cap the night. But nevertheless, being 26 means the party’s over and the work really begins.
Finally after 9 months of shooting and editing, I finally completed Packard Coldshot. For those of you new to it, I’m re-establishing a character I created and portrayed in a series of detective movies I’ve been making since high school. For my family and friends, it’s the end of a 8 year journey in playing this character and it’s conclusion symbolizes the fact that I have made the transition from old school high-8 videos with my friends to independent films with working actors, high-end equipment, and media coverage to go along with it. I certainly came a long way from New York Film Academy.
September is also going to be the month where I will be getting knee-deep into my new film, Dishonorable Vendetta. In the next couple of weeks, you’ll not only see more pictures from the set but also a video blog which will document our progress on the film. I’m really getting a good vibe from make it thus far and I hope it will only get better as we go along.
On a final note, I thank everyone once again who sent me birthday wishes over Facebook. It really meant a lot to me. But I was also surprised that this was the first time in 4 years that no one wished me happy birthday on Myspace. I know it sounds meaningless but it seems clear now that Facebook took away the Myspace audience the same way WCW stole WWE’s audience in the 90s. It makes me wonder if I really need Myspace anymore. Only time will tell.
