THE SAXOPHONIST Official Website Now Live!

We have now officially launched the website for AJ Epyx Productions’ dramatic short film THE SAXOPHONIST. It tells the story of a talented but struggling jazz saxophone player who has to choose between a potential career breakthrough and a beautiful ballet dancer who could be his soul mate. Written and directed by Andre´ Joseph and starring real saxophone player Beavin Lawrence, production will begin in August 2017 in New York City. This project is fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts.

THE SAXOPHONIST Pitch Video & Website Launching Tomorrow

AJ Epyx Productions’ next short film effort THE SAXOPHONIST will launch its pitch video for fundraising tomorrow afternoon along with a brand new official website and Facebook page. This project is fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts. More details about the project, donation details, and pics from the storyboards and behind the scenes of the pitch video shoot will be unveiled then. For now, here’s a sneak preview from the video shoot featuring writer/director Andre´ Joseph and star/musician Beavin Lawrence:

DISHONORABLE VENDETTA Accepted into the Iron DragonTV Action Fest

I’m happy to announce that our award winning hit from the 2015 Urban Action Showcase DISHONORABLE VENDETTA has been accepted into the first annual Iron DragonTV Action Fest! It’s an international film festival devoted to the multiple facets of action cinema. Screenings will take place August 11-12th at the Flix Brewhouse Round Rock in Austin, Texas. We’ll have more information about specific screening times and how to get tickets.

Casting Call for THE SAXOPHONIST Short Film

The Saxophonist is a short film with fiscal sponsorship from New York Foundation for the Arts. It tells the tale of a struggling jazz musician who must choose between a career opportunity and beautiful ballet dancer who could be his soulmate. SAG-AFTRA and NON-UNION actors are welcome to submit. Auditions will take place in late April through early May. Production begins August 2017 in locations around Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY.

The following roles we are seeking are as follows:

ADELLA (Lead): Female, 21-40
A naturally beautiful, down to earth ballet dancer. Has a passion for dance much like Lonnie the saxophonist does for jazz, making the two connect emotionally. Actress must have a dance background.

Ethnicity: Caucasian, Hispanic, Ethnically Ambiguous / Mixed Race

ART (Supporting): Male, 60-80
Bartender and owner of Fine Art’s Bar & Grill. A true jazz historian and mentor to Lonnie the saxophonist.

Ethnicity: African American

PARKER (Supporting): Male, 25-35
Studio producer and engineer. A sarcastic straight shooter.

Ethnicity: Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Ethnically Ambiguous / Mixed Race

JEANE (Supporting): Female, 30-40
Lonnie’s blind date. A self-centered, fast-talking party planner who never stays off her phone. Over-glamorized with long nails and enough jewelry to rival Mr. T.

Ethnicity: African American

LYDIA (Supporting): Female, 21-35
Lonnie’s aspiring but insecure actress girlfriend. Frustrated with his music not paying the rent and utilities.

Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

CARLTON (Supporting): Male, 50-65
A smooth, sharp dressed record producer for a west coast jazz record label who wants to sign Lonnie.

Ethnicity: Caucasian, African American
